Husband's Insults

My husband seemed ok with me leaving work a couple of years ago.  Ever since then, though, he's done nothing but insult me.  He constantly tells me that he's the only one making money so I have no right to say anything about how he spends and he makes little "jokes" about me being "brain dead" since I've been home with the kids. How should I answer him?  I don't feel ready to go back to work just yet but I'm really tired of all the comments and insults.
